Self expression comes in a number of forms, and The Gathering Place has found a way to bring self expression to women experiencing poverty and homelessness: art. The Gathering Place’s mission, when it comes to supporting art, is to “shine a light on the amazing talents of these women and encourage them to rediscover their independence through creative expression”, as so wonderfully put by Teresa Densmore, Director of Art Restart. In addition to fostering independence, The Gathering Place also gives these women the opportunity to achieve self-sufficiency by earning money through their art sales. Through mere art, The Gathering Place supports and builds women – you can see this strength manifest itself through the art these women create!
This August 2nd, from 6-9 PM, you have the opportunity to witness the stunning creations done by women experiencing poverty and homelessness, as Fascination St. Fine Art Gallery will be holding an exhibit for these pieces. The Painting Possibilities: An Evening of Art event is one night of art you won’t want to miss! Did we mention there will be wine, beer, and hors d’oeuvres, too?
